The one sales call that changed my whole approach

I called a guy named Dave in Austin who owns a small landscaping company. He straight up told me "I get 50 emails a day and I delete all of them without reading." We talked for 20 minutes about nothing and then he asked me to come by his shop Friday morning. It taught me that phone calls still beat emails every time in this business, has anyone else had luck reaching people that way?

Maybe it's less about the call and more about him having time to actually talk.

50 emails a day isn't much compared to the 200+ most of us get so calls aren't automatically better.

My buddy runs a web design gig and tried cold calling last month. First guy he reached just talked about his dog for 15 minutes then sent him a $5k contract the next day. Calls are weird like that but they work sometimes.
