TIL that cutting my ad budget actually boosted my sales

I run a small bakery in Austin and last month, I slashed my Facebook ad spend from $800 to $200, thinking I'd just save money. I figured sales would drop, but I focused more on posting daily stories about our baking process. After 3 weeks, our in-store traffic went up by about 15% and we sold out of our specialty items twice. I guess the more personal, free content connected better than the polished ads. Has anyone else had a marketing plan backfire in a good way like this?

Reminds me of a food truck that stopped doing paid promos and just posted videos of their prep work. Lines got way longer.

Totally get that. Makes me wonder if we're all just tired of being sold to all the time. Maybe just showing the real work behind a business is the actual ad now.

Yeah, exactly. @luna891, real work is the only ad that doesn't feel like an ad.
