Just realized my bookkeeper in Tulsa fired me as a customer because I was too disorganized
Last Tuesday I got a letter from the bookkeeping service I hired back in January saying they were dropping me as a customer, no phone call, just a letter. I called the owner and she said my receipts were such a mess that her team spent 6 hours a month just sorting my shoebox of paper, and at $45 an hour I was costing them more than I paid. That was a $540 a month reality check I did not see coming after 11 months of telling myself I would get organized next week. So now I am looking at scanning apps and monthly cleanup routines before I try another service. What do you all do to keep your dang receipts from turning into a pile?
Getting dropped by a letter with no call is cold but honestly that 6 hour cleanup bill makes it make sense, I had a tax lady tell me something real similar a few years back and it stung BAD. What finally worked for me was snapping a pic of every receipt the second it hits my pocket and dumping them into one folder on my phone, takes like 10 seconds and saves me a whole weekend of crying over a shoebox. Give it two weeks and you will actually look forward to tax season instead of dreading it.
