Bought a $140 band saw blade sharpener, wish I hadn't

Picked up a benchtop sharpener off a supply catalog last month thinking it would save me cash on my shop's blade rotation. Ran it on three used blades and it threw the tooth geometry off so bad I had to send them out to a pro anyway. Anyone else find these cheap units do more harm than good, or am I just using it wrong?

Laughed at myself pretty hard when I did almost the same thing. Mine chewed up a 3/4 inch blade so bad the teeth looked like a dog got a hold of it, and I stood there telling my wife it was an investment in the business. Two blades later I'm mailing them off to the sharpening guy anyway, plus the 140 I already dropped. So either we're both using them wrong or these things are just fancy paperweights with a motor. My money's on the paperweight theory.
