Found out the average burger patty in the US is only 3.6oz of actual beef, and I can't unsee it
Saw that number in a supplier newsletter from Omaha last month and it explains why so many customers ask why my quarter pounders look bigger than the grocery store ones. Anyone else notice customers getting suspicious about patty weights since beef prices jumped?
We ran into the same thing at my place when we switched to a 4oz patty and people swore it shrank. What fixed it for us was putting the weight right on the menu board, like "4oz smash patty" in plain text. Once folks could see the number, the questions stopped almost overnight. The ones who still ask usually just came from somewhere that served a bigger burger, so I tell them straight up that ours is a real 4oz after cooking and let them decide. Being upfront cost us nothing and saved a ton of headaches at the counter.
