Serious question, my old Sabatier got sharper on a $12 diamond stone than my buddy's $200 electric sharpener
My buddy swears by his electric sharpener and I keep telling him my beat up 10 inch Sabatier out slices his Wusthof every time we break down a whole ribeye at his place in Reno. Last Sunday we put it to the test on 40 pounds of strip loins and his blade kept snagging on the silver skin while mine went through like warm butter. He blamed the steel, but I think it's the angle he's holding at, maybe 25 degrees instead of 20. Any of you run into this with guys who trust the machine more than their own hands?
My $8 garage sale stone gets my old Henckels through silver skin faster than my neighbor's $150 Work Sharp, and I still manage to cut myself every single time. Sounds like your buddy just needs to stop letting the machine do his thinking for him.
