Spent 3 hours chasing a bad grind on my new bandsaw blade yesterday
I was cutting some pork shoulders and the blade kept wandering no matter what I did. Adjusted tension, checked the guides, even swapped the blade out. Turned out the weld on the blade had a tiny bump I could feel with my fingernail. Had to file it down smooth and it cut perfect after that. 3 hours because I didn't check the weld first. Has anyone else dealt with a bad factory weld on a new blade?

Weird flex but okay. Three hours on a bump?

Same thing's become the norm these days, feels like nobody checks quality before shipping stuff out anymore. It's like every new thing you buy has at least one thing you gotta fix yourself to make it work right.

Man, I feel your pain on that one. I had almost the exact same thing happen with a 14-inch bandsaw blade I bought from a big online seller last year. The weld was so rough it left a groove in every piece of wood I tried to cut, and I spent a whole afternoon messing with tension and tracking before I figured it out. It's frustrating because you expect a new blade to be ready to go out of the box, not something you have to fix right away. I ended up taking a fine diamond file to it and it worked fine after that, but it still bugs me that they let it out the door like that. You're not alone in this, it's a real drag when something basic like that eats up your whole day.
