Why does everyone act like Saturday is the only day that matters in this shop?
I had a Tuesday two weeks ago that beat any Saturday I've worked in 5 years. We got a whole hog in from a local farm, the owner wanted it broken down for sausage, steaks, the works. I did 140 pounds by myself in about 6 hours, and the kicker was the temperature outside hit 97 degrees so I was sweating through my apron before noon. Then a regular came in asking for a custom bone-in ribeye cut, something I only get asked for on weekends. I guess I just wonder why we all complain about the Saturday rush when midweek can throw you a curveball like that. Has anyone else had a random Tuesday or Thursday that felt more rewarding than any holiday weekend? Or is it just me who thinks the unexpected shift is what makes this trade worth it?
