$250 "smart" thermostat that made my house hotter in summer

Man, that's rough. Was it one of those "learning" ones that's supposed to figure out your schedule but then just runs the AC less because it thinks you're gone? I had a friend who got a Nest and it basically decided 78 degrees was "comfortable" while he was at work, so the place was a sauna by the time he got home. Did the thing actually let you override the temp or did it just ignore you?

Snagged one of those "smart" thermostats during a sale and yeah, it basically turned my living room into a slow cooker. I think the thing thought I was a plant, not a person. @johnson.jesse I'd set it to 72 and it'd just shake its digital head and go "nah, 76 is fine, you'll get used to it." Ended up having to rip it out and go back to a dumb thermostat, which honestly feels like admitting defeat.
