Bought a $15 cast iron skillet at a garage sale in Tulsa, now I get why people swear by them

Picked up this beat up skillet from a lady who said her grandma used it for 40 years. It had rust spots and a wobble, but I spent 2 hours scrubbing and re-seasoning it. Now my eggs slide right off and nothing sticks, even cheap burgers. Has anyone else found a hidden gem like that at a random sale?

My great aunt had a skillet just like that from a church rummage sale in 1982, cost her three dollars. She used it for cornbread every Sunday until she passed, and I swear you could taste all those years of bacon grease in every bite. When I finally got it, the bottom had a crack in it so I had to retire it, but I still think about that skillet sometimes.

Dragged an old Griswold out of my grandma's basement after she passed, crusted in 40 years of grease so thick you couldn't see the metal. Spent a whole weekend stripping it down in the oven, and that first batch of cornbread was like eating history.
