Can we talk about those cheap magnetic pickup tools?
Bought a 10 dollar telescoping magnetic pickup tool from Harbor Freight two months ago. First use it grabbed a screwdriver no problem. Third use yesterday the magnet just fell off inside an engine bay on a 2015 F-150. My buddy swears by the same one and says I got a dud. Anyone else have one of these fail or am I just unlucky?

Did you try getting a refund or swapping it out? I grabbed one from the same place and the magnet popped off on my second use too, but I brought it right back and the new one has held up for almost a year now. Sometimes you just get a bad batch with those cheap tools.

Yeah, swapping it out is definitely the move. I had the exact same thing happen with a ratchet from that brand, the little detent ball just vanished on day three. Took it back, they gave me a new one without even asking for the receipt, and it's been solid ever since. Just gotta get past that first bad batch, I guess.
