Found out my $60 "waterproof" jacket was only water resistant after the second wash
Bought this jacket from a local outdoors store in Denver about 4 months ago. Sales guy said it was fully waterproof up to like 10k mm or whatever. First rain it worked fine. Second wash following the tag instructions, dried it on low. Next time I got caught in a drizzle I was soaked through in 20 minutes. Looked up the brand online and found out their waterproof rating drops by 60% after the first wash for most of their stuff. Nobody mentions that on the tag. Has anyone else had a jacket that suddenly turned into a sponge on you?

So it's water resistant until you actually need it to work. Cool.

right @charlienelson but like, what's the actual point of saying it's water resistant if it fails in normal rain? i had a "water resistant" jacket that couldn't handle a light drizzle without soaking through. feels like they're just slapping a sticker on anything these days and calling it good.
