Hot take: my cheap kettle died in 8 months but the $60 one is still going after 3 years
I bought a $15 electric kettle from a discount store last March because I didn't want to spend much. It started leaking from the base by November and finally stopped heating up completely last week. So I dug out my old Cuisinart kettle I bought back in 2021 for $60 that I had shoved in a cabinet. That thing still works perfectly after 3 years, no rust or scaling issues. I guess sometimes spending a bit more upfront really does save you money in the long run. Has anyone else had a cheap appliance fail way faster than expected?

Well, I used to be the kind of person who bought the cheapest kettle I could find every time. I figured a kettle is just a kettle, why spend the extra money? But after going through three cheap ones in about two years I finally got fed up and bought a decent Cuisinart model. It has been four years now and it still works perfectly, no issues at all. That experience really changed my mind about this stuff. I guess you really do get what you pay for sometimes.

Three cheap kettles in two years sounds like my dating history.
