Pro tip: the $9 tube of silicone grease saved my $180 kitchen faucet cartridges
My faucet started dripping after 14 months and I almost ordered new cartridges, but a plumber at the supply house on 5th told me to pull them and grease the rubber before spending a dime, which took ten minutes and killed the drip completely, so has anyone else had this actually hold up past a year or does it just fail again?
My dad had the same drip on a Moen and the grease trick bought him maybe 8 months before it started up again. The rubber gets worn down from grit in the water, so grease stops the squeak but it can't fix a flat spot on the seal. If your water has a lot of junk in it, that cartridge is on borrowed time no matter what you do. Pull it once a year and re-grease it and you might stretch it a few years, but don't be shocked when it comes back.
