PSA: Found a simple trick for keeping my Stanley thermos hot for 12+ hours

I bought a Stanley thermos about 5 years ago and always thought it was junk because my coffee got lukewarm by lunch. Then a guy on a job site in Detroit told me to preheat it by pouring boiling water in for 5 minutes before adding the coffee. Tried it and now it stays hot until 6pm easy. Has anyone else missed this obvious step with their thermos?

Honestly, I tried that preheat trick and it barely made a difference for me. My Stanley still loses heat after about 4 hours, maybe 5 if I'm lucky. I think people hype up these old-school thermoses way too much, they're just heavy metal bottles with a screw-on lid. Modern vacuum insulated stuff from companies like Hydro Flask or Yeti works way better in my experience, no preheating needed. My $30 Ozark Trail tumbler from Walmart keeps coffee hot for a full 8 hour shift without any extra steps. Maybe your Stanley is just built different than mine, but I'm not buying into the hype.

Man that Ozark Trail tumbler is a beast, @hugo825. I got one for like $12 and it's still going strong. Stanley is just heavy and loud when you drop it.
