That $15 moisture meter from the hardware store lied to me for 6 months before I figured out how to use it right
I kept getting wet readings on dry wood in my basement project until I realized the pins need to be clean and making full contact with the grain, not just pressed against the surface, so am I the only one who wasted time trusting these things out of the box?

Right? I figured that out after I cleaned the pins on a dry wall check too.

Oh man, I had a friend who tried that on his laptop and ended up bending two pins with a q-tip. He had to buy a whole new charger port after that.

Q-tips are basically asking for trouble on delicate electronics.
