That week my pressure washer hose burst 3 times in one job

Was cleaning a driveway in Detroit last Tuesday and the hose blew right near the fitting, soaked my legs. Replaced it with a cheap one from the hardware store, blew again on Thursday. Finally borrowed a commercial grade hose from a guy on the next street over, finished the whole thing without any issues. Anyone else had luck with those reinforced rubber hoses holding up better than the standard ones?

Yeah, I gotta ask - did your legs end up looking like you went swimming in a puddle of anxiety too? That happened to me once, soaked my whole right side before I even realized the hose had popped. I’ve tried those cheapo hoses more times than I’d like to admit, and they always seem to blow at the worst possible moment. The reinforced rubber ones do hold up better in my experience, but I still manage to find ways to abuse them - like dragging them over gravel or leaving them in the sun. Your mileage may vary, but I’d say if you can spare the cash, the upgrade is worth it just for the peace of mind. Just don’t ask me about the time I forgot to turn off the pressure before swapping hoses... let’s just say my neighbor’s cat got a free bath.

Those cheap hoses just aren't built for real use. Had the same thing happen when I was washing a parking lot for a client. Went through two hoses in a week before I wised up. The reinforced rubber hoses are the way to go. They cost more upfront but they don't kink or burst like the standard ones. They handle the heat and pressure way better too. I got one from a local equipment shop a couple years back and haven't had a single problem since. Bite the bullet and spend the money on a quality hose.
