Why does nobody talk about how much lighter a cast iron pan gets after 50 years of use?
I was at my grandpa's house last weekend and picked up his old cast iron skillet from the 1970s. It felt way lighter than my new Lodge pan I bought two years ago. I weighed them both on his bathroom scale and his was almost a pound lighter. Has anyone else noticed this or is my grandpa just secretly sanded his pan down?

That's cool nobody talks about it, but it fits with how everything just gets lighter with use. My mom's kitchen shears are like butter now compared to a fresh pair.

Is it just me or do blades actually get duller over time, even if they feel smoother? The weight distribution might change from wear, but the cutting edge itself has to be losing material, so I don't buy that they get better with use.
