Can we talk about how a $9 tube of silicone caulk beat my $300 wood stove gasket kit
My old stove at the place near Ely was leaking smoke from the door seam for two winters and I kept buying gasket rope kits that burned out in a month. A guy at the hardware store in town said to skip the rope and just run a bead of high temp silicone in the channel, let it cure a day, then close the door once. That was 14 months ago and the door still seals tight with no smoke in the room. Anyone else find a cheap fix that embarrassed the expensive one?
