Finally took the advice about my face frame gaps
A customer pointed out I had a 1/16 inch gap on one of my upper cabinet doors last week and I brushed it off at first... but she was right. I went back and started checking every reveal with a feeler gauge instead of just eyeballing it and it's amazing how much cleaner everything looks now. Anyone else had a customer call them out on something that actually made your work better?

@dianas50 brings up a good point actually. The gaps I found were mostly near the hinges, especially on the bottom corners of the doors. Seems like a little bit of twist in the door material or maybe the cabinet box wasn't totally level. I checked every single one with that feeler gauge and found random spots too though, like on the top of some doors where the hinge cup depth was off by just a hair. It's crazy how much a 1/16th adds up to when you can actually measure it instead of guessing. What did you use for checking your gaps before going back over them

Man, that's the kind of thing that keeps you humble. I had a similar wakeup call a few years back when a homeowner pointed out my toe kick wasn't flush with the floor in one corner. I was pissed at first, but they were right. @dianas50 mentioned hinge placement, and honestly I think the real issue is how we train our eyes to see "close enough" instead of actually checking. A feeler gauge or a 6 inch rule beats eyeballing every time. It's painful to fix after the fact, but you won't make that mistake again.

That's interesting about the feeler gauge - did you find the gaps were mostly in certain spots like near the hinges or more random across the whole cabinet?
