First cabinet job in a while where nothing needed shimming, and my helper Marco kept joking that I should buy a lottery ticket. Then Friday afternoon a 24 inch rip on maple burned and drifted, so I scrapped a whole face frame and lost half a day. Do you all call it a week and reset, or push through and risk a second bad cut?
Pushing through is how you end up scrapping two face frames instead of one, so nah, that's bad advice in my book. When a blade wanders that far on maple, something changed, and it ain't your luck. Could be the blade got dull, the wood has hidden stress, the fence drifted, whatever. You don't know which until you stop and check. Marco joking about a lottery ticket is the real clue here, because a 3 day hot streak means nothing on Friday afternoon when the steel tells you different. Walk away, grab a coffee, come back and check your setup before you touch another board. Half a day lost beats a full day gone.
