Nah man, respectfully I gotta disagree here. MDF is gonna swell and bubble the second any moisture hits it, especially around a sink or dishwasher. You saved $1200 now but you're gonna eat that in callbacks for sure. Prefinished plywood might cost more upfront but it holds up way better in a kitchen environment. Plus the time you spend sanding and painting MDF to look decent kind of eats into that savings anyway.

Also nobody's mentioning how heavy MDF is. Good luck getting those upper cabinet doors to stay aligned after six months of gravity doing its thing.
