Before and after on a crawlspace cleanup I did last Tuesday

I hit a job where the crawlspace was just disgusting. Like, old insulation sagging down, mud everywhere, probably 40 years of debris. The homeowner had a mouse problem they thought was just from the yard. After I pulled out about 15 bags of trash and laid down new vapor barrier, the whole place looked like a different house. Have any of you dealt with a crawlspace so nasty you almost walked away?

15 bags is wild, but honestly I used to think any crawlspace was manageable until I found a literal pile of bones (like old chicken bones) under a house from the 50s and almost noped right out.

Could it be someone's old trash pit from before municipal pickup was a thing? I've read that houses before the 1950s sometimes had their own little dump spots in the crawlspace or backyard. So that bone pile might be less spooky and more just old household garbage from a different era.
