Customer insisted on burying cable in the flower bed with a garden trowel and no conduit

I was on a job in Portland last spring where the homeowner grabbed my shovel and started trenching for the coax through her prized tulips, hitting a sprinkler line after six minutes, and I had to decide whether to let her finish or take over and risk her writing a bad review, so what do you do when a client won't let you do your job the right way?

Did you just stand there and let her dig up her own sprinkler line?

Let her" is generous. I was mostly just admiring my own handiwork from five feet away.

Is it really that big of a deal? I mean, she's an adult and she wanted to dig, so let her figure it out. Sprinkler lines aren't exactly life or death. Plus, the cost of fixing a PVC pipe is like what, $20 and a trip to the hardware store? People act like she committed a crime.
