Oh for sure, I used to think a soft knock was the polite way to go too. It felt less aggressive, you know? But @patricia_green21 is right, that weak little tap just makes everyone confused and you end up waiting forever. Now I do that solid three-knock thing like I'm announcing myself to the whole block - it's way clearer and nobody gets startled or bitten.

That's a REAL specific thing to screw up, I ALWAYS knock like I'm the damn police.

The first time my neighbor did that aggressive knock I almost called the cops on HER. But you're right, it's way better than that weak little tap that makes you wonder if someone's actually there or just messing with you. I used to think the softer knock was more polite, but now I see it just causes confusion.
