Got stuck in a crawlspace in Fort Worth for 70 minutes while the homeowner watched me on her Ring camera
The coax run went fine until I backed into her water heater and knocked the drip pan loose, so I spent the next hour mopping up with my own drop cloth while she narrated everything to her sister on speakerphone. Come to find out the old line was already good and I never needed to go under there at all. Any of you check the existing splitter before crawling under a house, or do you just assume the worst like I did?
Wouldn't that old line still need to pass a signal test before you trust it? Just because the existing coax looks fine doesn't mean it is, corrosion in the connector or a bad ground will fool you every time. The smart move is a tester on the line first, then you know in two minutes if you're crawling under there for a reason. What you ran into is why I keep a cheap toner in the truck, saves me from a lot of blind trips under houses.
