Return that thing and grab a Klein, it actually works on drywall.

Wait those cheap probes usually only track live wires through wood lath and plaster not regular drywall.

Read somewhere that the cheap ones ditch a frequency filter to hit the price point. Probably why it couldn't find anything through standard drywall.
