Changed my mind on hiring a lawyer for my WC claim after seeing the difference at the Oakland board
I filed my back injury claim alone for 8 months because I figured a lawyer would just eat 15% of a small settlement. Then my cousin got hurt at the same warehouse and hired a guy in Oakland, and his permanent disability rating came back at 32% vs the 12% they offered me with no rep. What made the difference was the QME process, his attorney knew which doctor to push for and mine just took whoever was assigned. Has anyone here gone from no lawyer to having one mid-claim, and did it actually change your rating?
