Just found out QME doctors in California have a 30 day deadline...
I was reading through the DWC website last night and saw that QME doctors have to get their report to you within 30 days of the exam. I had no idea there was a hard deadline like that on the other side. Has anyone actually used this rule to push a slow doctor into finishing their report?

man i swear i've been waiting on a QME report for like 6 weeks now and the doc's office keeps saying "it's in the works." maybe i should just show up at their door with a printed copy of that deadline and see how fast they scramble. feel like i'm more likely to get a report out of my 6th graders' book reports than out of some of these doctors.

Wait, have you actually gotten a confirmed date from the doc's office yet, or are they just saying "soon" every time you call? I've seen this exact thing happen before, and usually the real problem is the doctor never even started the report until someone pushed hard. You might want to ask them directly if the doctor has even opened your file yet, because "in the works" can mean anything from "we're just now scheduling a review" to "we lost your paperwork again." Showing up with that deadline printed might be the nudge they need, but make sure you're not showing up without a copy of the original referral too, because they'll use that as an excuse. And six weeks is way past the typical time frame for most states, so you're not being unreasonable here. If they still blow you off, file a complaint with the board, that usually gets their attention real fast.
