My QME report had my injury date wrong and I almost lost $4,800 in back pay
I was going over my QME report last Tuesday at my kitchen table in Stockton and noticed the doctor put my injury date as March 14 instead of March 4. That 10 day gap mattered because my TD payments stopped 10 days early, which came out to about $4,800 I was owed. I called my attorney right away and he said don't touch the report, just send him a photo of the page. He filed a request to correct the record with the workers comp board and it took about 3 weeks to get fixed. The claims adjuster actually called me and said they would reissue the missing checks once the amended report was on file. Got the $4,800 direct deposit on a Friday and I just sat there staring at my phone. Has anyone else caught a wrong date or body part on their QME report, and did it take this long to fix?
Check the whole report page by page, not just the injury date. I had the wrong body part listed on mine back in 2019, said left shoulder when it was my right, and that one error dragged my case out an extra two months because the adjuster used it to question the whole thing. What saved me was keeping a folder with every visit slip, the first incident report, and my paycheck stubs, so when I called my attorney he had proof in five minutes instead of us going back and forth. Three weeks sounds about right for a correction to make it through the board, so don't feel like yours was slow. Just make sure the amended report actually lands in your file and get the check stub for that deposit, because if the wage amount is off too you want it caught now and not at settlement.
