Wasted $800 on a lawyer who did nothing for 4 months

Ngl, I hired this slick talking attorney in LA for my workers comp case and he just sat on it. Lost 4 months and $800 in retainer fees before I switched to a real specialist. Anyone else get burned by a general practice lawyer trying to handle comp cases?

Also had a lawyer who said he specialized in comp cases, turns out he did three a year and spent the rest of his time on DUIs. Four months of "we're gathering records" and he hadn't even requested a single medical file. The scary part is these guys look professional until you realize they're just good at paperwork and bad at the actual work.

Read a study once that said most lawyers who claim they specialize in workers comp actually handle less than 10% of their caseload in that area. The rest is family law or DUIs. Makes you wonder how many people are paying for "experts" who are just reading the same google results we could find. Did you end up switching to someone who actually does this full time?
