A collector's note about shutter speeds rewired my testing habit

I used to just fire a shutter by ear and call it good until a guy at a swap meet in Portland handed back a Voigtlander I'd serviced and said the 1/500 sounded sluggish. He timed it with his phone and showed me it was actually running at 1/350. That pushed me to finally buy a $60 shutter tester off eBay and now I check every leaf and focal plane unit before it goes out the door. The tester has caught bad slow speeds on three CLA jobs in the last month alone, stuff I would have totally missed. Do most of you run a dedicated tester or still trust the old listen and feel method?
