Hit 500 shutter repairs last week and never thought I'd make it that far

Started keeping a tally just for fun when I fixed my first Canon AE-1 in 2019 and now I'm staring at a stack of 500 little hash marks wondering if I should actually count the ones that broke again after I worked on them. Anyone else keep a running count of their repairs or am I just weird about this?

Haha, that's a lot of shutters... 500 is no joke. I'd probably have to count the ones that came back with the same problem too, just to keep myself honest... or maybe just mark 'em as "extra credit" so I don't feel bad about it. I've got a little tally book for my own camera tinkering, but it's more like "tried to fix a jam, made it worse, and now it's a paperweight." I think I hit 50 before I lost count... and the book.

Do you actually count the 'extra credit' ones or just pretend they don't exist? I feel like if I added the returns to my count it'd be more like 650 and I'd have to admit I'm not as good as I thought. Honestly though, keeping the number realistic helps you spot when you're getting sloppy on the tricky models.
