Lost $45 on a 'factory refurbished' shutter assembly
Picked up a supposedly factory refurbished shutter for a Canon AE-1 off an auction site last month. The listing photos looked clean and the seller had good feedback, so I figured why not. Got it in, checked the speeds with my tester, and the 1/1000 was off by nearly a full stop, plus the curtains had a slight bounce. Tried to contact the seller and they ghosted me after one reply, so there went my $45 and a weekend of work. Anyone else have luck with third party shutter assemblies, or do you just bite the bullet and buy from the known parts dealers?
