Shoutout to the cheap USB microscope I got last year
Honestly, I used to hate working on tiny ribbon cable connectors. I'd just use my old loupe and hope for the best, and I'd mess up the alignment maybe one out of every five tries. Ngl, after I got that $40 microscope from Amazon, it changed everything. I can actually see what I'm doing now, and I haven't ruined a single flex cable in six months. Anyone else have a cheap tool that made a huge difference for a specific job?

Oh man, I should've grabbed one years ago for those tiny ribbon cables.

My old man used to say the right tool turns a chore into a job. He was talking about woodworking, but it's the same with this stuff. I spent a whole weekend trying to fix a VCR with a magnifying glass before I broke down and got a loupe. That moment you see the actual problem clearly, it changes everything. It's like half the stress in life comes from squinting at a blurry picture.

Totally feel you on that. I grabbed one for checking solder joints on old game consoles. The difference is NUTS. I used to just cross my fingers and reflow everything, now I can spot a cold joint from a mile away. It basically turned a guessing game into an actual fix. Best forty bucks I ever spent on my workbench.
