The gummy lens grease fix that saved me $200
I had a Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L that was focusing real slow and gritty. Local shop quoted me $200 to re-grease it. Tried using a tiny dab of Super Lube synthetic grease (the 21030 kind) on the focus helicoid after cleaning the old stuff off with isopropyl. Worked like new for 6 months now. Anyone else found a specific grease that holds up better than the standard Canon stuff?

Switched to white lithium grease on mine and it's been smooth for over a year now...

Has anyone tried the wd-40 white lithium spray? I used it on my garage door tracks and hinges last fall, still slides smooth and quiet even after all the snow and salt this winter. It's a bit messy going on but worth it. What kind of weather are you dealing with up there?
