TIL that cleaning a lens with just a microfiber cloth vs a proper cleaning solution made a huge difference on a Zeiss 50mm I had
I spent 6 months using a dry cloth on this lens and saw no real change, but after one proper cleaning with Eclipse fluid and Pec Pads last week the haze and smudges finally lifted how it should look - has anyone else found dry wiping just pushes grease around?

I'm gonna push back on the "dry wiping just pushes grease around" thing lol. Proper technique with a dry microfiber can actually work fine if you're not pressing too hard and you fold the cloth to get a fresh section each time. Honestly sounds like you just had some stubborn residue that needed a solvent, but for everyday dust and light smudges a dry cloth works just as well without the hassle or cost.

Wait, so you're telling me I've been wasting money on spray cleaner when I could've just been perfecting my microfiber origami this whole time?
