Cheap cleaners can do more harm than good. The wrong solution or heat setting can melt old lubricants and glue. Once that gunk hardens, it locks everything up tight. You might have turned a simple clean into a full rebuild. Those parts are delicate and need the right tools. It's a tough lesson to learn the hard way.

Actually, a lot of those cleaners work fine if you read the label and use them right. Plenty of folks on a budget have fixed things up without wrecking them. It's more about being careful than having the most expensive stuff. Calling for a full rebuild right away seems like a big jump. Sometimes you just need to try a different approach.
