Turned out my favorite CLA solvent from 15 years ago is now banned in California
I found an old MSDS sheet in a 2003 repair manual that listed carbon tetrachloride as the recommended cleaner for shutter blades, and it got me wondering how many of us are still using stuff that's been illegal for a decade without knowing it.

Did you ever stop to think how many things we just blindly trust from old manuals and forums? I swear, half the stuff I learned in my early days of fixing things is probably illegal now. It's like that whole thing with brake cleaner, you know? Everyone used to swear by that one toxic kind until they banned it, and now you gotta hunt for the good stuff that actually works without giving you cancer. I bet there's a ton of people out there still using old cans of that stuff they found in their garage, not even thinking twice about it. Kinda scary when you realize how much we just accept what worked back then without checking if it's even legal anymore.

Heard @tarag28 there's a rumor old manuals are selling for stupid money on eBay now. You seen that?

Are people actually checking if those old manual instructions are even safe anymore, or just blindly following them because it worked for their dad? Sounds like a liability nightmare waiting to happen.
