Warning: I used compressed air on sensor cleaning wrong for 3 years

I blew dust around inside a Nikon D750 for ages until a buddy pointed out I was holding the can upside down and spraying propellant everywhere. Has anyone else had a dumb cleaning habit they didn't catch for way too long?

Honestly, the warning label thing is such a joke, I bet half the people who do this just don't see it until it's way too late. But the thing I REALLY want to know is how did you NOT notice the weird wet spots or the sticky residue on your shots for THREE whole years? Like, that's not one or two times, that's a long time of just accepting some funky sensor action. Were you just editing all that gunk out later or did your buddy catch it because you complained about something specific? I feel like there has to be a moment where you looked at a photo and went "huh, that's weird" but just blamed the lens instead of the oily mess all over the sensor.

Man, that's brutal but I bet tons of people have done something similar without realizing it. The whole upside-down can thing is a classic mistake because the warnings on the can are so tiny you barely see them. I used to just blow dust off my sensor with a rocket blower but I went way too hard and ended up jamming a speck into the mirror box once. Took me forever to figure out why my shots had a weird shadow in the corner until a repair guy pointed it out. Makes you feel like an absolute idiot when you finally catch on.
