Finally ditched my old bulky sleeping bag for a quilt last spring
I used to spend 10 minutes every morning wrestling with a zipper and straps inside my 20 year old bag. Picked up a 20 degree Enlightened Equipment quilt for $275 back in April and it cut my pack weight by almost 2 pounds. Anyone else find quilts way easier to sleep in than a mummy bag?

Just traded off a bunch of weight in other gear too and realized how much of our lives is spent fighting with old stuff we're used to instead of just upgrading to something simple. It's like that old dresser drawer that sticks unless you pull it at a weird angle, you just deal with it for years until one day you replace it and wonder why you waited so long. Quilts are proof that comfort and lighter weight usually go hand in hand once you get past the idea of having to be zipped into something.

Quick fix for that zipper wrestling match is to just leave the quilt loose on top of you like a blanket. The weight savings are real but the real win is not getting tangled up every time you need to roll over at 2 AM. You find yourself sleeping way better once you stop fighting your gear.
