Found my dad's handwritten notes on his camping kit
Honestly, going through his old notebooks, he just jotted down what worked and what broke. Tbh, we used to trust those scribbles more than any fancy website. Now I see videos and star ratings for everything. It's wild how much has shifted, but part of me misses the simplicity. Back then, a good review was just a friend's recommendation after a trip.

Did your dad also keep notes on fixing things around the house? My uncle had a workshop notebook full of tips, like which glue worked on what or how to stop a door from squeaking. I still have it, and sometimes his one-line fixes are more clear than a whole online tutorial. That personal touch just made the advice feel more real.

My grandpa's 1990s tent note mentioned a specific pole clip that always failed, which is a tiny history lesson on gear design flaws. Those notes preserve the context of when something worked, not just if it did.
