Hot take: the guy who gave me directions to a campsite last summer was hilariously overconfident
He pointed me toward a trail that he swore was a shortcut to the lake, but 20 minutes of bushwhacking later I ended up at someone's outhouse and had to yell over to a ranger for help getting back lol has anyone else had a local give them completely fake directions?

Oh come on, is this really a big deal? The guy was probably just trying to be helpful and got a little mixed up. I mean, yeah it sucks you ended up at an outhouse instead of a lake, but it's not like he sent you off a cliff or something. Locals give wrong directions all the time, it's part of the charm of getting out of the city. Plus you got a funny story out of it, so what's the harm? Everyone makes mistakes, it's not worth getting worked up over.

Yeah, "not like he sent you off a cliff" is kind of the bar we're setting here, huh? I've been burned by bad directions before and now I always pull up the spot on my phone maps before I drive off, even if I'm just confirming with a local. It takes ten seconds and saves you from hiking boots full of... well, you know.
