Hung my new hammock between two pine trees and almost broke my back

I spent 3 hours at a campsite near Asheville trying to get my hammock straps tight enough so I wasn't lying on the ground. Turns out those cheap straps stretch way more than people say, and I was sagging like a banana all night. Did anyone else have to ditch the stock straps for tree-friendly ones that actually hold?

Oh man, the banana sag is so real! I had the same disaster with cheap straps my first time out, felt like I was sleeping in a giant slingshot. I ended up switching to whoopie slings with tree huggers, they actually hold tight without damaging the bark. The stock straps from most budget hammocks are basically just glorified shoelaces, you gotta grab something with real webbing like Kevlar or heavy duty nylon. Your back will thank you after the first night of not waking up with your face touching the dirt!

Ha! I actually prefer the sag, makes it feel more like a cozy nest.
