My $18 headlamp outlasted my $70 one on a rainy trip to Arcadia last month
I put both through the same 3 nights of rain and mud and the cheap one still works while the fancy one flickers. Has anyone else had a cheap light just refuse to die while the pricey one quits?

Cheap gear just works sometimes and nobody wants to hear it. I've had dollar store stuff outlive brand name junk more than once. The fancy one probably has some circuit board or fancy switch that water gets into. More parts means more ways to fail. That flicker is water in the connection somewhere. My go to is keep a couple cheap ones in the cab and stop stressing over the price tag.
