My $30 sleeping pad split open at 2am near Flagstaff
Camped at a trailhead outside Flagstaff last October. Woke up flat on the ground with my hip digging into rocks. The seam on that budget inflatable pad just gave out, no puncture or anything. I had to sleep on my jacket pile for 4 hours until sunrise. Now I check every pad's seam tape before I buy, and I carry a patch kit even for new gear. Anyone else had a pad fail without an obvious hole, or am I just unlucky?
Same thing happened to me with a cheap pad, seam just peeled apart at the baffle with no hole anywhere. Now I inflate any new pad at home and let it sit a full day to catch bad seams before I trust it outside.
