My uncle swore by a cheap stove for years, so I finally tried one
He always said, 'Just get the basic Coleman two-burner, it never quits.' I bought one for $60 before a trip to the Adirondacks last fall. It worked fine for the first two days, but then the flame control got really weak and it took forever to boil water. I ended having to finish cooking over the fire. Has anyone else had this happen with the newer models of that stove?

My old Coleman from the 90s was a tank, but the new ones feel different.

Disagree hard, my new Coleman works better than my dad's old one. They made the poles lighter so it's not such a pain to carry, @terryh20. The fabric is actually tougher now, it just doesn't feel as heavy. They improved the design without keeping all the clunky parts.

Remember my buddy's new Coleman pole snapped in a light wind last year. They might use tougher fabric now but the frame feels cheaper, like thin aluminum that bends too easy. My old one took real abuse and never had a problem. The new designs save weight but they cut corners on the stuff that actually holds the tent up. It's not just about feeling different, it's built different and not for the better.
