PSA: I almost lost my tent to a gust on Mount Rainier because I skipped one step

Last fall, I was setting up my 3-person dome in a high wind area and didn't stake out the rainfly's extra guyline points, thinking the main corners were enough. A huge gust hit around midnight and nearly ripped the whole fly off. I had to get out in the cold and secure it. I've since learned to always use every single tie-down, even if it seems like overkill at the time. Has anyone else had a tent try to fly away on them?

What wind speed were you dealing with?

Felt like 35-40 mph gusts, @loganthompson. Anything over 25 and you gotta really lean into it, man. Makes for a long day.

Man, I've seen gusts over 50 just shred a tent that wasn't fully staked.
