Serious question, is the Marmot Tungsten actually overhyped?
I took my new Marmot Tungsten 3P out to Big Sur last weekend and honestly, I don't get why everyone loves it. The first night was fine, but on day two a light drizzle started and the fly let water seep through near the zipper. I had to patch it with a trash bag at 2 AM. For a tent that costs $350, I expected better seam sealing. Has anyone else dealt with moisture issues on theirs, or did I just get a lemon?

My buddy picked up the same tent and had the exact same leak near the zipper on a trip to Olympic. He ended up seam sealing it himself and said it was fine after that, but kind of a pain for the price. You might just have a bad batch, but it seems like a common complaint.

My buddy had the same thing happen with his tent on a trip to the Smokies last spring. First night out, light rain, and water started seeping right through the zipper flap. He was pretty annoyed since he paid full price for it, but he hit it with some seam sealer too and it held up fine the rest of the trip. Still feels like you shouldn't have to do that out of the box though, especially for what they charge.

Big Sur is notoriously wet and windy, I bet half the people complaining set it up wrong or didn't stake out the fly tight enough. I've used mine through a full weekend of heavy rain in the Sierra and it stayed bone dry, not a single drip. Honestly, for the weight and price, it's a solid deal if you actually pitch it right.
