Update: My new camp seat stopped the next-day aches

Just back from a weekend trip in the hills. Carried my stuff a few miles to the site. My back always hurt after sitting on the ground. This time I packed a cheap foldable stool. It has a firm seat and sits high. Used it while I made dinner and watched the fire. Woke up feeling fine, no pain. Really surprised how much it helped. What small gear items have made your trips more comfortable?

Okay but @flores.leo carried a stool for TEN miles? That's the part that blows my mind, I get sore just thinking about it. I guess if your back is killing you after a long day, a few extra pounds is totally worth it. Makes the original post seem way more reasonable for just a short walk to a camp site. Sometimes you just need to sit on something that isn't the cold, hard ground.

You only carried that stool a few miles? That's the part that gets me. I always leave stuff like that behind because of the weight. I'll pack a whole cast iron pan but think a stool is too much. Maybe I've had it wrong this whole time.

During a 10-mile hike in Glacier National Park, I packed a lightweight camping stool. It turned out to be a game changer for taking breaks without sitting on rocks or damp soil. @alex_mason, you mentioned the cast iron pan, and it's similar, where the right gear can make the trip better. The stool's weight felt worth it because I used it at every stop, unlike some stuff that stays in the pack. Your mileage may vary, but for me, that bit of comfort after miles of walking is a big deal.
